Päivät 2-3.6.2009

Lähtö Pitkärannasta, tarkoituksena ajaa Lotinnanpellon ja Tihvinin kautta Vologdaan. Kuuma ajopäivä, Karjalan kunnaita ja Laatokan itärantaa koluten. Tie oli yllättävän huonossa kunnossa aina Lotinanpeltoon asti, josta alkoikin hyvä baana. Tihvinistä alkoi suhteellisen suora ja rauhallinen tie, jota ajelin Vologdaan asti. Matkalle sattui pienehköjä taajamia ja muutaman kilometrin sivussa oli yli 300000 asukkaan Cherepovetsin kaupunki, jossa näytti olevan paljon kemianteollisuutta.Yöksi motelliin Vologdan reunalle, majoitus oli kalliinpuoleinen eli 2100 ruplaa, mutta sateen uhatessa päätin maksaa hinnan. Kilometrejä tuli 829.

Päivä alkoi sateisena, Vologda-Jaroslav välin tuli vettä. Jaroslav on vanha, vuonna 1010 perustettu kaupunki Volgan rannalla.Asukkaita on noin 650000, täällä sain käsitystä, kuinka suuria kaupunkeja Venäjällä onkaan. En ollut ennen kuullutkaan mistään Jaroslavista tai Cherepovetsista. Jaroslavista ajoin Vladimiriin, ainoana tavoitteena oli ainoastaan päästä M7-tielle ja siitä on baana auki itään. Reitti teki jonkin verran mutkaa, mutta M7:lle päästiin. Seuraavana suurempana taajamana tuli Nizny Novgorod, jonka liepeillä on Lukoilin suuret jalostamot. Kaupungin itäpuolella leijui ankara öljynkäry ja jossain piipussa näytti palavan ikuinen tuli. Ajoin Nizny Novgorodin ohi ja päädyin majoitukseen tienvarren gastinitsaan, hinta 800 ruplaa. Pyörä parkissa viereisen varastoalueen vahtikopin vieressä. Ajoin tänään 753 km.

Leaving Pitkäranta, intended to ride through Lotinapelto and Tihving to Vologda. It was a hot day, riding around Karelia and east of laatokka. The road was surprisingly in a bad shape, until Lotinapelto. The road from Tihvin was quite straight and calm; I rode it until I reached Vologda. During the journey there were small urban areas and few kilometers away there was over a 300 000 people city called Cherepovets, which seemed to have a lot of chemistry industry. I spend the night in a motel, on the outskirts of Vologda. It was rather expensive, 2100 rubles, but since the possibility of rain i decided to pay the price. Today i did 829 kilometers.

The day started as rainy. It rained in between Vologda and Yaroslavl. Yaroslavl is an old city, founded in 1010, ashore of the Volga River. The population is around 650 000, this made me realize how big the cities are in Russia. I've never heard about anything called Yaroslavl or Cherepovets. I rode from Yaroslavl to Vladimir, the only goal was to get to the road M-7, and the road is open to the east. The route made some curves and bends, but i made it to the M7 after all. Next bigger urban area was Nizhniy Novgorod, which had Lukoils big oil refineries. On the east side of the town there was a strong reek of oil, and there was a fire coming out of the pipe that seemed to last forever. I rode past Nizhniy Novgorod and I ended up in a road-side gastinitsa, the price was 800 rubles. The bike is parked on a nearby storage-areas guard post. Today I did 753 kilometers.
