15-17.6.2009

Administrator antoikin säälistä minulle yksityishuoneen perhehuoneen hinnalla, eli 800 ruplalla. Kilometrejä 794.

I woke up from my luxurious tent again. It seems that i keep waking up earlier and earlier. My sleeping rhythm is a bit messed up since the time difference is 7 hours. The road has spanned for a long time near the Chinas border, you can see the mountains from the other side of the border. I intended to ride through Habarovski in the morning. It's located among the river Amur, population 578 000. The route to Vladivostok goes through the city and it's really complicated. I made it by heading to south and Vladivostok. The road follows the river Ussuri, the river is a border between Russia and China. I pulled over many times to photograph on the bridges, and almost every time I pissed off the bridge guards at the both ends. There were some commercial accommodations between Habarovski and Vladivostok. I spent the night in a gastinitsa. It seemed that i will have to share a room with a rather large, snoring business man. The administrator gave me a private room for a price of a family room, which is 800 rubles. I did 794 kilometers.

Herätys ja tien päälle. Tänään reissu saavuttaa puolivälinsä, kun saavun Vladivostokin kaupunkiin. Matkaa on noin 290 km. Olen perillä keskipäivän ruuhka-aikaan. Kaupunki on minulle järkytys, valtavan suuri, tiheään rakennettu. Ja mikä automäärä! Kaupunki vaikuttaa olevan täynnä oikeanpuoleisella ohjauksella varustettuja japsiautoja.

Today I will reach the halfway of my journey, when i arrive to Vladivostok. I have 290 kilometers still to go. I'm there around the midday rush hour. The city is a shock for me, it’s big, has a high density of buildings. And wow, so much cars! The city seems to be full of right handed cars and they are Japanese. I parked my bike and start looking for a kiosk that would sell cards and post stamps. I asked at least 10 kiosks, and none of them had any. I was parked on side of the road and I called Sinus, to ask if he could give me a local bikers phone number that would help me. Then Toltolich arrived, and he wanted to help. He also spoke English. He called Sinus, who was in Kazan. Toltolich told me that post cards are available at the post office, and he guided me there. I bought the cards. Toltolich ordered a taxi and promised to guide me to the Custom-Club premises. The address and the club turned out to be fake. I was considering going to a hotel, but Toltolich convinced me to go to the MCC Iron Angels club house. We went there and the clubs president Alex and the vice president Andrei. First of all they asked what kind of maintenance my bike needs. After that they asked me how i want to spend the evening. Either vodka and girls OR a dinner in a restaurant, a tour of the city to photograph it, getting some supper, sauna and then sleep. I chose the second option. After this they showed me around the town, Alex showed his nice bikes, he has two bikes, an Intruder and a Hayabusa. Afterwards we went to the supermarket to get some snacks for me and then it was bedtime. I spent the night in a flat, which was empty and owned by Alex. He told me he'd pick me up at 10 am.

Alex tuli hakemaan minut sovitusti.

16-17.6.2009 in english for russian friends in Vladivostok

I arrived to Vladivostok at noon. I was shocked for population, rush and traffic. I was worried to find panoramic card of Vladivostok. I consired to call to Sinus, but suddenly a gentleman name Toltolich picked me on side of the street. He promised to help me and guided me to the main post office. I sent cards to Finland and Toltolich gave me a hint to go to MCC Iron Angels club house. We went to the house and met Alex, Andrei and some other members. Alex and guys treated me as a wellcome guest and club offered me a delicious dinner in russian restaurant with Alex. He was a very good host and we had a very interesting conversations about food, relationship in Russia and Finland and so on. After dinner we made a city tour and showed me his beautiful Suzuki's, Intruder and Hayabusa. Finally, it was time to go to sleep after we bought some snacks from supermarket. Thanks for this beautiful night, i will never forget it.

Alex picked me from his apartment at 10.00 am. We went to the club and Pavel, a club's mechanic started to fix my bike to ride to back in Finland. Pavel is very competent mechanic and he installed and balanced new rear tyre and changed new front sprocket quickly. After that Pavel drove to town and we bought a can of Liqui Moly for the next oil change. He showed me famous Golden Horn of Vladivostok. There were beautiful view over bay to Japan sea. Finally it was time to say goodbye. Many thanks for Alex, Andrei, Pavel and other guys in club, you made my visit to Vladivostok great with your friendship and hospitality. I had no idea about russians before this journey, but now i know that you are great people. Thank you and keep up your great club.

  2. Kiitos kiitos, kuvia voisi tietysti aina ottaa enemmänkin.
